Lazy Ass

Poor dogs, it's so warm that all you see is dogs just lying around. Another strange thing is that in the small towns the dogs do what they want. People play with them and pet them, but they roam around on their own. Merida is bigger, so nobody aproaches dogs on the street, but they don' t mess with anyone. They sleep outside the shops and find scraps to eat.

I've come across so many dogs that apear dead. It freaks me out.

He's spying on the situation. Maybe he just wants to pounce.

He's alway at the city square, La Plaza Bolívar. There's a square like this in every city and town with a statue of Simon Bolívar in the center. In bigger cities there are more than one.

Big bugs

Just some little fellas I came across in the pad. Click on the pictures to see them larger.

This wasp was so mellow. I could get the lens of the camera an inch away and it didn´t care. It was eating its banana. It comes by everyday to check out the kitchen, espacially when my aunt is melting panela(a hard block of pure cane juice. It's so good).

my barrio

I´m so excited about this new park. you can see the apartments I´m staying at in the background. I´m going to try to go swiming here everyday. Everywhere you look is forrest and huge mountains.

The park has a huge stadium, fully equiped gymnastics arena, karate arena, judo arena, fencing arena, tennis, swimming pool, high-dive pool, and they´re still building more.

to the left of the bridge. Most of the green is here to stay. Chavez made it all protected forrest. When I go back to Caracas and post the pictures of all the favela-like barrios on the mountains , you´ll see why. It´s crazy.

bored

i wish someone came with me. it´s cool by myself, but i want to go out at night and i don´t feel like doing it by myself. i guess it´s just different. I´m getting restless. I think I need to get back on the road. maybe the northwest coast. I got bit by mosquito today, i think it´s the kind the carries dengue fever. i´m not sick yet.
